Being Involved

Parent Help
Parental help is very much valued and appreciated at Heywood Consolidated School. Parents can help:
-
in the classroom – reading to students, changing readers first thing in the school morning or assisting the teacher
-
during athletics, sports or swimming programs and breakfast club.
-
Gardening, library or other ad hoc assistance.
If you wish to help, you will need to obtain a Working with Children Check (Volunteers) and provide a copy to the school office.

School Council
The School Council comprises both parents, staff and a community member to oversee the organisation of our school. School Councillors complete a 2year term. We have 12 members on our School Council and each year in March, parents, staff members and community member positions are up for re-election.
School Council looks at the operational business of the school. It is a great opportunity to learn about the inner workings behind funding and how the school works. There are also sub-committees (Finance, Education and Community Engagement) which utilise parent involvement – you don’t need to be on School Council to participate on these committees.
